This is a major throwback to my last trip with my bestie to Pondicherry. It was an almost 2 day trip…we started on Saturday morning and came back home by Sunday night.
I had an office event on that Friday(previous day to the trip) so I had washed and styled my hair on Thursday night. Let it dry overnight and danced my heart out at the day long office event.

How we reached Pondicherry from Chennai:
Saturday, which was my Day 2 hair, we started from Chennai in a sleeper bus to Pondicherry.
It takes mere 3 hours from here. There are so many good sleeper buses. There are also semisleeper buses. Charges are around Rs. 250-400. We took a 6a.m. bus. We got down at the Auroville junction and took auto to our homestay at Vana Vilasa . Christina, who managesthe homestay, was the sweetest host and her 4 year old daughter is such a darling and an awesome company.
I wrapped my hair in a satin cloth while sleeping in the sleeper bus.
Where we stayed:
We stayed at Vana Vilasa Homestay in Auroville area. There are so many homestays as well as hotels in Pondicherry and in Auroville area. You can choose as per our preference..I would suggest to take up a homestay as those are fun.
I personally preferred to stay at Pondicherry nearer to the Rock Beach…so that we can easily take evening and late night strolls at the rock beach. However since we both were travelling alone, we stayed at this homestay coz Christina is friend of a friend. and honestly, later on we felt it was the best decision to stay at Villa. I felt so coz:
- Serenity Beach was nearby: our major reason for choosing Pondi as a destination was the beaches!! So when we got to know that the Serenity beach was nearby, there was no reason to look for other resorts.
- Host was a sweetheart: we had nice long chats with her. She took us out on her bike and suggested some nice cafes.
- Cute Cafes nearby: the food and the near by cafes were nice.
- Buttttttttttttt taking cab from auroville area to Pondicherry was costlier…compared to if we had stayed at Pondicherry.
Day 1 of the Trip (Hair: Day 2):
On day 1 of the trip, we took it slow..had a nice brunch & long chat at Bread & Chocolate Cafe. Then took a cab went to the Aurbindo Ashram, Ganesh Temple and then again strolled around the Rock Beach Road. Had a nice lunch and sat at the rock beach till early evening. It was very sunny yet pleasant.
Ready to rock the Rocky Beach!!
At the Rock Beach ~~~ Hair is reaching out for the water
Humidity and too much of wind. Mainly the wind from all directions blew my hair all over the place and made it to frizz.
Next we went to the Serenity Beach. the moment we set our eyes on this beach, we were mesmerized!! it was such a beautiful beach. So easy to get into the water and very less crowd. It has this beautiful rock bridge a little into the sea where you can sit till late. we spend a relaxed evening on the beach till it was dark.
At night, we just dipped our feet in the homestay’s pool and stayed up till late reliving our old memories.
Day 2 of the trip (Hair: Day 1):
For the day 2 of the trip. We woke up very early and went to the Serenity beach to catch the sun rise. It was so pleasant and beautiful. Me and my friend are beach lovers…we get drenched like anything. So we went in our pjs and played in water till sun was high up in the sky!!!
There was complimentary breakfast at Vanavilasa, which we had as a brunch. 🙂
For hair, I washed it with the body shop rainforest moisture shampoo and applied the cantu curl activator in raking motion and then scrunched it in. I plopped my hair for 10 mins and then let my hair air dry through out the day.
The Day 2 was more fun. After brunch we went straight to the French colony and simply strolled around…clicked pics…then went to the Botanica Garden..this is not a very touristy thing to do..lol..but this was super fun….this is where we had the train ride.. If you are going with kids, would surely recommend this place. 🙂
My hair was this wet when we started out
You think my hair will dry faster? lol!!
It surely did dry faster!!!
When a stranger catches you saying to your friend, “Oye, I should look gorgeous!! Click properly!!” *blush* but that women laughed sweetly at my demand haha…
Hair fully dry, No frizz, though I roamed around the entire day in sun and humidity!!
By say 5pm or so, my hair looked like this!!
Our bus was at 7. so we started by 6 or so, strolled around the Auroville road..had an early dinner…caught our bus and reached home by 11pm!! It was a super short yet fun trip 🙂
I totally loved how my hair looked!!! Efforlessly beautiful with just 1 styling product!!!
and hey btw..who needs Raj when Simran got herself covered 😉
Have you been to Pondy?? What is your favourite thing to do there??
