Olaplex is a hair bond repairing treatment which works on the hair at a molecular level. It contains patented ingredients which are considered to work wonders on hair by working at the structural level of the hair. Olaplex works on the broken Disulfide bonds in our hair and help in strengthening the hair.

The Olaplex Treatment
In-salon Olaplex treatment consists of two treatments:
- Olaplex no. 1: Bond Multiplier
- Olaplex no. 2: Bond Perfector

On the whole the Olaplex in-salon treatment takes about 40-45 minutes. If you have longer or shorter hair than me, the application time might vary by 10mins more or less! Siam was the stylist who did the whole Olaplex Process for me at the Bon Bomb Hair Salon. He is very professional and efficient. He explained the process to me before hand. Also, made good converstaions during the treatment. Gave more information about the products and also let me know that BonBomb was among the very few salons that was providing the Olaplex treatment. (which of course I was aware of!). He also mentioned that the Olaplex treatment is something that should be done a bit more frequently to see the results visibly. Which I totally agree on.
The In-Salon Olaplex Process
Started with shampooing the hair. I did not ask for sulfate free shampoo as I don’t really fuss about that at salons. So, after the shampoo, the hair was dried till it was damp (and not drenching wet) with a hair dryer. Then came out the Olaplex No. 1 – the Bond Multiplier! It was measured and taken into a bowl and mixed with same amount of water.
My hair was divided into small section. Each section was detangeled and then the No. 1 was applied with a hair coloring brush. Folllowed up with a small bristle comb to spread the product evenly throughout the hair. The Olaplex No. 1 was left on my hair for about 15 minutes. After 15 Minutes, Olaplex No. 2 – the Bond Perfector was applied over No. 1 (without rinsing off the No.1). Again, the hair was divided into small sections and this time No. 2 was applied with hands/fingers.
No.1 was a liquidy product, while No.2 was a bit creamy. No.2 has the exact consistency of the No.3 (the at-home Olaplex treatment). Both the treatments were left on the hair for 15 mins each. The hair was then washed and the products were rinsed off the hair. This was followed up by the regular styling techniques.
The treatment went pretty smooth. Bon Bomb is pretty lit up and bright space. Both Lucy and Siam make you feel at home and that is the best part about going there. There was mild chit chat during the process and my requests for videos and pics were done without fuss.
Olaplex Treatment – Result
Hair definitly felt visibly better. Since the product works on molecular level, the results are not visible to the naked eye. Well, cannot expect the hair to transform like a fairy tale! It was just one Olaplex treatment, after all!! However, with regular use, and even with one use, you would feel the difference in your hair! If your hair is colored, like mine, you would see a pop in the color for sure! Even with this one time treatment, my color looked much better, so the treatment did work!

Overall Experience
Olaplex is a hair treatment to repair and strengthen the hair! The hair surely feel stronger after the Olaplex treatment! And my hair color popped more after this treatment. That was a visible change that I noticed. Well, do not expect hair to become ‘moisturized’. This is not a deep conditioning treatment! Rather a bond repair to repair any hair damange that might have happened to the hair bonds. One treatment does not create wonders, but if you have damaged hair, I would suggest to go for the Olaplex treatment frequently.
Who do I recommend to get Olaplex in-salon done?
If you have visibly damaged hair or if you have colored, bleached, lightented or had any chemical treatment done, then you should incorporate in-salon olaplex treatment in your routine atleast monthly once to maintain your hair’s health! And in Chennai Bon Bomb is a good place to get your Olaplex fix from!
If you have virgin hair and do not see any visible damage, I would suggest to opt for at-home Olaplex treatments, especially the No. 3.
